Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 17, 2026

Tagg ("we", "our", or "the extension") is a browser extension that lets you highlight, tag, and revisit text on any webpage. This policy explains what data we collect, how we store it, and your rights.

What Data We Collect

Tagg collects only data you explicitly create:

What We Do NOT Collect

How Data Is Stored

Your tags and links are stored in two places:

Sync Code & Cross-Device Access

Your sync code is a randomly generated identifier (e.g. XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) stored locally in your browser. It is never linked to your identity. Anyone who has your sync code can view your synced tags — treat it like a password and only share it with your own devices.

Third-Party Services

Data Retention & Deletion

Your local data can be deleted at any time from the extension panel → Settings → "Clear All Tags".

Cloud-synced data is stored under your sync code. To delete it, generate a new sync code — the old data becomes inaccessible. There is no account to delete since we don't collect personal information.

Children's Privacy

Tagg is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the extension evolves. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.

Summary: Tagg only stores data you deliberately create (your highlights and links). No tracking, no account, no browsing history. Your data stays on your device unless you choose to sync it using a code you control.
